Barron Maskew
Barron Maskew is a full-time drill designer, educator, and consultant with over 10 years of experience teaching, writing, and designing for marching arts programs.
He currently serves on the visual staff of The Spartans Drum & Bugle Corps, which has earned the DCI Open Class World Championship gold medal for the past three consecutive years and is excited about officially moving to World Class this summer (2026). Barron has also worked with Spirit of Atlanta, The Guardians, Carolina Gold, and Midas Winds, the latter of which earned the silver medal at the 2016 WGI World Championship.
As a performer, Barron marched with Jersey Surf in 2009 and 2010, and with Carolina Crown in 2012, when the corps received both the Jim Ott Brass Award for best brass performance and the John Brazale Award for best visual performance.
Previously, Barron served as band director at Parkville High School in Maryland and Hickory High School and Middle School in Virginia. Under his leadership, the marching and concert bands consistently received superior ratings at state marching and concert festivals.
Barron earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Music Education from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, where his graduate work emphasized conducting.
