John Wolff
John Wolff is a dedicated performer, educator, and composer based in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Currently a senior pursuing a degree in percussion performance at East Texas A&M University, he has been an integral part of various ensembles, including the Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble I, Percussion Ensemble I, Panimation Steel Band, and the PRIDE Marching Band. His leadership roles include serving as Vice President (2023-2024) and now President (2024-2025) of the university’s Percussion Association, as well as being a member of the Percussive Arts Society University Student Committee since 2023.
John has studied under esteemed educators such as Dr. Brian Zator, Jeff Ausdemore, Lauren Teel, and Sandi Rennick. His performances have taken him to prestigious events, including the Texas Music Educators Association and the Percussive Arts Society International Convention. Notably, he was a member of the East Texas A&M Percussion Ensemble when they won the International Percussion Ensemble Competition in 2023.
With an extensive background in marching percussion, John performed with the Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps (2021-2022), The Blue Stars (2023), and The Blue Devils (2024), serving as battery section leader for the Crossmen in 2022 and The Blue Stars in 2023. In 2025, he will join the Crossmen as part of their instructional staff.
Beyond performing, John is a passionate educator and composer. He has worked with high school percussion programs at The Woodlands, Allen, Terrell, Commerce, and other Community High Schools. Currently, he serves as the varsity battery instructor at Allen High School and is the percussion arranger for The Guardians Drum and Bugle Corps, Terrell High School, Quitman High School, Liberty Eylau High School, Blue Ridge High School, and Queen City High School. Additionally, he provides private lessons and frequently receives commissions for percussion ensemble works, solos, and marching arrangements.
